WSAQ Sings out in Port Huron

Military Street Music Cafe

March 27, 2007

It was a quiet Tuesday night in Port Huron, until you strolled down the street to the Military Street Music Cafe. Inside Q-Country WSAQ was hosting their annual singing contest who's winners will have a chance to open for the stations Listener Appreciation Concert, scheduled for April 13th this year with rising star Keith Anderson.

More than 20 hopefulls sang tonight to win one of the eight coveted spots to go on to the finals. I have gone out to P.H. for three years now for this competition and there is always a great mix of lively talent, and people who "think" they have it.  Truly, you must applaud anyone who stands up and sings in front of a crowd this size as the small downtown bar was packed to the rafters.

The night went so well, that they actually picked NINE to go on to the final round of competition which will be held NEXT Tuesday, April 3rd. This is a great opportunity for talented listeners of the station to actually open for a National Act, something even well tuned local bands wait a long time to do.

Congrats to the nine winners and to WSAQ and the wonderful team there for hosting the competition each year. This will be the 24th year for their listener appreciation concert.
