"They say when you find your passion for life, you know it. When I picked up a guitar and started to play in public, I knew right then that whether I was making a million dollars a night or a hundred dollars a night, that's what I wanted to do and that won't change a bit."

Ricky Smith is a singer/songwriter from Detroit, Michigan. Born on June 2nd, 1985 to Daniel and Debra Smith in Wayne , Michigan , Ricky started singing and entertaining his family around the house when he was just a toddler. He grew up in Westland, Michigan and moved to Canton, Michigan right before he started high school.

In high school he was introduced to country music, changing his life forever. He was always a fan of Elvis Presley and one day he was at a karaoke bar with some friends. They convinced him to sing a song by Presley and that's where it all started. The place loved it and he slowly began singing favorite Elvis songs at fairs with some other local artists. Then came a song request to sing Tim McGraw's "Please Remember Me". "After I bought his greatest hits CD to learn the song, I was hooked. I loved every song on the album.

During his senior year in high school he received an acoustic guitar for Christmas and slowly began learning how to play. His senior year was also when he started singing at many school functions and getting recognition from his friends. In the summer of 2003 he made numerous accomplishments, gained recognition from many people in the music industry, created many fans, and more. Ricky also sang in a series of contests in 2003. Although he only advanced to the State Level in the Colgate Country Showdown in 2003, he did do a great job singing Tim McGraw's "Down on the Farm", and Kenny Chesney's "How Forever Feels." In 2004 he was selected from 1,100 people to appear on Channel 4 Detroit's "Gimme the Mike." On the television show he received 39/40 points losing only to the winner of the entire 4 episode series. "I love winning contests, but that's not why I perform, I do it for the audience. I love entertaining people and making everybody have a good time."

He currently is attending college and working on original music. During college he will continue to perform and expand as a musician. "As soon as I get my degree, I'm going to Nashville . It's a tough business but I have got to try. I really can't see myself doing anything else."
