Having long been an admirer of more traditional styles of American music (specifically Country and Rock n Roll) over the years, Vinnie found himself writing in these particular styles. Looking for an outlet for this music, the Orbitsuns were formed.
Doing their first gig in March of 2000, the group has steadily been building momentum and a devoted following. Having filled their set with energetic and emotional original songs and choice covers by Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, and Elvis Presley, they have kept their audience wanting for more.
The experience in the Orbitsuns is diverse. Vinnie is the lead singer in the platinum selling rock group Sponge. Having done extensive touring and recording, Sir Tim Duvalier has been a mainstay in the Detroit music scene for years playing in such bands as The Chisel Brothers and The Sharecroppers of Soul. Jimmy Paluzzi, who was not only the original drummer of Sponge, recorded a record for RCA with the Detroit based band Hoarse. John Dunn can be seen playing around town with everybody from Lucid Jones to Bon Temple Roulle. Yet the diversity seems to be the foundation for the cohesive yet fresh sound.
This music seems to be an alternative to the ever-changing “Alternative” says one fan, and not just another bandwagon move. The music is real, the feel is real.
